RxLens Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

The short version: RxLens has no account, makes no network calls, and collects no data. Everything you measure and every photo you take stays on your iPhone. Nothing is ever sent to us or anyone else.

What RxLens does

RxLens is a utility that estimates the sphere power of an existing pair of glasses and measures your pupillary distance (PD), as a buying reference. All of this runs entirely on your device.

Information we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, no account, and no analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.

Camera

RxLens uses your camera in two ways: the rear camera photographs your glasses over the dot target to estimate lens power, and the front TrueDepth camera measures your pupillary distance. These images and depth readings are processed on your device only. They are never uploaded, and PD depth data is used in the moment and not stored.

Face data

The pupillary distance (PD) feature uses Apple's ARKit face tracking on the front TrueDepth camera. The only face information the app reads is the position of your two eyes, which it uses to calculate the distance between your pupils in millimetres. RxLens does not capture, store, or transmit face photos, depth maps, face geometry, or any faceprint, and performs no facial recognition. Eye-position readings are processed in memory on your device solely to display the live PD number, are discarded the moment you leave the measurement screen, and are never saved to disk, shared with us, or shared with any third party. Face data is never used for advertising or marketing.

Photos

If you choose to measure a lens from an existing picture, RxLens asks permission to open a photo you select. That photo is used only for the measurement on your device and is not copied off it.

Saved measurements

When you tap Save, the reading (eye, estimated power, your label, and an optional photo of the glasses) is stored locally in the app's own storage on your device. It is not backed up to us or synced to any server. You can delete any saved measurement at any time by swiping it away in the app, and deleting the app removes all of it.

Motion sensors

RxLens reads the device's motion sensors only to show an on-screen level so you can hold the phone flat while measuring. This data is used live and never stored or transmitted.

Children

RxLens is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. It collects no information from anyone.

Not a medical device

RxLens provides estimates for buying reference only. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or replace an eye exam or an optician's measurement.
