NoteCatch — Privacy Policy

Effective 26 July 2026 · Applies to NoteCatch for iOS, version 1.0 and later

Developer: TechBitsMix · Contact: TechBitsMix@gmail.com

The short version

NoteCatch does not collect any data about you.

There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and no analytics. Your recordings, transcripts, summaries and action items are created on your iPhone, stored on your iPhone, and stay there. We cannot read them, because they are never sent to us. There is nothing for us to lose, sell, or hand over.

This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your data. It is a statement about architecture: we did not build the thing that would collect it.

What NoteCatch stores, and where

Everything below is stored only in NoteCatch's private storage area on your device:

None of it is uploaded, backed up to our servers, or shared with any third party. If you use iCloud Backup, your device backup is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours — we neither control nor can read it.

Deleting data. Settings ▸ Delete all recordings removes every recording, transcript, summary, suggested item and speaker name from the device. Deleting the app removes all of it as well. Neither action can be undone, because there is no copy anywhere else.

Items you confirm into Apple Reminders or Apple Calendar remain in those apps after deletion, because at that point they belong to you, not to NoteCatch.

Processing happens on your device

Transcription uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Summaries and action items are produced either by Apple Intelligence (on supported iPhones) or by a language model that NoteCatch downloads once and then runs locally. In every case the audio and text are processed on the device itself.

NoteCatch does not use any cloud AI service. This was a deliberate decision, not an oversight — we reviewed the free tiers of cloud model providers and rejected them, because their terms permit human review of submitted content, and personal recordings are not ours to submit.

Every network connection NoteCatch makes

NoteCatch is usable with no network connection at all. It makes exactly three kinds of request, and none of them contains anything you recorded:

  1. Apple speech model downloads. When you choose a transcription language whose model is not yet on your iPhone, iOS downloads it from Apple. This is a request for a model file — no audio or text leaves your device.
  2. On-device language model download. On iPhones without Apple Intelligence, NoteCatch offers a one-time download of an open-weights model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). This is a plain file download. After it completes, the app never needs the network for summaries again.
  3. Purchases. If you buy NoteCatch Pro, Apple's App Store handles the transaction. We never see your payment details, name, or Apple Account. We receive only Apple's yes-or-no answer about whether this device has the purchase.

Hugging Face's servers will see your IP address when you download a model, as any web server does. We have no relationship with them beyond hosting a public file, and no data about you is transmitted in that request. Apple's handling of items 1 and 3 is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

We do not use advertising, attribution, crash-reporting or analytics SDKs of any kind. There are no third-party SDKs in NoteCatch.

Permissions, and why each is asked for

PermissionWhyWhat we do with it
MicrophoneTo recordAudio is written to your device only
Speech RecognitionTo transcribeRecognition runs on-device; audio is not sent to a server
RemindersTo add items you confirmOnly when you tap to confirm a specific item. NoteCatch never writes silently, and never reads your existing reminders
CalendarTo add events you confirmWrite-only access. NoteCatch cannot see your existing calendar

You can withdraw any of these in iOS Settings at any time. NoteCatch keeps working without them, minus the corresponding feature.

Spotlight. Transcribed recordings are indexed in iOS Spotlight so you can find your own words from the home screen. That index is maintained by iOS on your device and is not shared with us. Deleting a recording removes it from the index.

Recording other people

NoteCatch is a microphone, and the law about pointing one at another person varies by country and by US state. Some jurisdictions require the consent of everyone involved. You are responsible for complying with the law where you are.

NoteCatch cannot record phone calls — iOS does not permit any third-party app to do so.

Children

NoteCatch is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age. Since the app collects no data at all, there is no children's data for us to hold.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none. There is no database with your name in it, no profile, and no record that you use NoteCatch.

Your data is already entirely in your possession, on your device. If you would like that confirmed in writing, or have any question about this policy, write to TechBitsMix@gmail.com.

We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. If a future version of NoteCatch ever collects data — which is not planned — we will say so plainly in the app before it does, not only in this document.
