DejaView collects no data whatsoever. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no network access of any kind. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go.
DejaView finds duplicate videos on your Mac by comparing what the frames actually show. All of that analysis happens on your own machine, using your Mac's own processor. Your video files are never uploaded, copied off the device, or shared with anyone, including us.
None. Specifically, DejaView does not collect, receive, transmit or store on our behalf:
The app contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising libraries, and no analytics frameworks.
To do its job and to let an interrupted scan resume, DejaView keeps a few files inside its own sandbox container on your computer:
These files live in ~/Library/Containers/com.techbitsmix.DejaView and never leave your Mac. Deleting the app removes them. You can also clear the cache and the logs from inside the app at any time.
DejaView is sandboxed. It can only read the folders you explicitly choose in the system's folder-picker, and nothing else on your Mac. macOS stores that permission as a security-scoped bookmark so a long scan can be resumed after you quit the app. You can remove any folder from the app's list at any time, which discards the corresponding permission.
DejaView never erases a file outright. Removals are moved to the Trash, where macOS lets you recover them, or into a quarantine folder next to the original if you prefer. Every removal is recorded locally before it happens.
If you write to us for help, you may choose to save a diagnostics file and attach it to your email. That file is created only when you ask for it, saved wherever you choose, and sent only if you decide to send it. It contains your app settings, the technical log, and the crash report if one exists — which can include the paths of files that were scanned. Please look at it before sending it if that concerns you. We use anything you send purely to answer your question, and we do not retain it beyond that.
DejaView is a general-purpose utility rated 4+. It is not directed at children and, since it collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children.
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Since the app collects no data, we do not expect material changes.
